This is a real Matlab break (in the sense of 'Spring break!')...
I hope you like some of my favorites. They're really nice!
Sumi Jo - Ave Maria - Caccini
Sumi Jo (Seoul, Korea, Nov. 1962 - ) is a lyric soprano well known for
her interpretations of the bel canto repertoire. The ‘Ave Maria’ is a
much recorded aria composed by V. Vavilov around 1970. It is generally
misattributed to Florentine composer G. Caccini (1545–1618). This
piece’s harmony naturally does not approach Caccini’s era. Vavilov
himself published and recorded it on the Melodiya label with the
ascription to ‘Anonymous’ in 1972.
Emil Gilels - Vocalise op. 34, Nr. 14 – S.
Rachmaninov
Master Ukrainian pianist Emil Gilels (Oct. 19, 1916 – Oct. 14, 1985,
widely considered one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century)
plays Richardson's transcription of Sergei Rachmaninov's Vocalise. This
is a recital at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire.
Emil Gilels - Prelude in B minor – J. S. Bach/A.
Ziloti
The great pianist Emil Gilels plays this prelude in B minor. It is a
Ziloti’s arrangement of the Bach’s prelude No. 10 in E minor, BWV 855
(Well Tempered Clavier, Book I). From the recital at the Great Hall of
the Moscow Conservatory.
